The Berlin Economic Forum Project 2014-24 ( ) is a 10 year global project organized by the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy in partnership with global governance organizations, national governments, leading academic institutions and multinational corporations. The project is built on the experience that the Academy has gained with the previous project: the Berlin International Economics Project 2010-14 ( ).

The next events of the project will take place in Berlin from March 6th-11th, 2018 and will focus on Sustainable Business, Tourism & Responsible Foreign Investments.

Forum Agenda

The African Development Forum  is a part of The Berlin Economic Forum Project 2014-24. The African Development Forum 2018 will take place in Berlin from March 6th – 9th, 2018 in the framework of the Berlin Economic Forum 2018. The African Development Forum 2018 will focus on the opportunities for development in Africa in the framework of the current transitions and challenges. The forum will highlight best practices of countries in Africa of implementing successful sustainable development strategies and it aims to create new initiatives, which will strengthen African development in specific countries and for the continent as a whole.

The Forum also serves as a platform for African delegates to grow their business, meet potential business partners and investors and advance their career. The forum is designed to give Insights on current opportunities in various sectors of the business world, to inspire and engage delegates with speakers and other stakeholders and to transform into an “African Growth in Action”.

The Forum will include workshops and keynote speeches that allow for participation in discussion groups, and networking events, as well as expositions. Keynote and workshop topics focus on current investments and business opportunities from experts, investors, governmental seniors, and accomplished business people with focus on Africa.

Upon its conclusion, the Forum will publish a report based on the keynote speeches and suggestions from all speakers and delegates, which will be delivered to the international community.

Speakers during the forum will include leading politicians, economists, business experts, entrepreneurs, diplomats, governmental officials, senior academics, and journalists. Participation in the conference is open to governmental & diplomatic officials, academics, artists, journalists, civil society practitioners, private sector representatives, young professionals and students as well as other interested individuals from across the world.

Forum Locations

Based in Berlin, the conference will be hosted at ICD House of Arts & Culture and in a number of important political, historic, and cultural locations across the city.

Certificate of Attendance

All Forum participants will be awarded an official Certificate of Attendance upon completion of the program, which will provide details of the speakers who took part in the event, and list the topics which were discussed. Each certificate will be signed by members of the ICD Advisory Board. 

Participant Papers »

The Conference Committee encourages academic research and analysis of issues related to the goals of the Conference. The Conference Committee would therefore like to welcome the participants of the conference to submit a paper they would like to be considered for presentation at the conference as well as being included in the proposal document that will be issued following the conference and will be sent to all governments and leaders of the international community worldwide.

Sustainable Network »

During the program participants will have a number of opportunities to network with one another, with the speakers, and with ICD Board Members and partners. Conference participants will become part of the ICD Alumni, a growing international network of people of diverse interests and backgrounds from around the world who share a commitment to intercultural exchange. Members of the ICD Alumni Group will benefit from the following opportunities: Alumni online forum, Advisory Board Networking, ICD support for individual Leadership Initiatives, free access to all ICD research, videos and photos as well as other event documentation.
